Guiding Growth Through Challenge and Support
Middle School
6th & 7th Grade
Middle school is a time of big changes—and big growth. At TKCU, we walk alongside students as they begin the shift from dependence to independence, offering them new responsibilities with grace, structure, and steady support. With a strong academic foundation, intentional character development, and Christ-centered guidance, our middle schoolers are equipped to thrive—not just in school, but in life.

Our Middle School Goal:
“To equip students with the tools they need to become confident, thoughtful learners—developing strong study habits, critical thinking skills, and a sense of ownership over their education. All of this happens within a safe, guided, and Christ-centered environment where they’re still known, supported, and reminded daily of their God-given purpose.”

Shaping Independent Thinkers with Heart
At TKCU, our academics are designed to do more than build knowledge—they help shape confident, curious learners who see God at work in every subject. We meet students right where they are and challenge them to grow with purpose, joy, and support.

Analytical Reading & Discussions
Students develop critical thinking by learning to annotate, analyze, and interpret texts across genres. They support ideas with textual evidence and engage in meaningful discussions that sharpen clarity and depth of understanding.

Literature
Through rich, novel-based studies, students transition from reading to learn into reading to grow. Each text becomes a platform for personal reflection, spiritual insight, and meaningful discussions that connect literature to life and faith.

Grammar
Our students go beyond the basics, mastering complex sentence structures and language conventions. Grammar is not isolated—it’s woven into reading, writing, and speaking to build thoughtful communication.

Writing
Middle schoolers begin to write with greater purpose and structure. We focus on persuasive and analytical writing, helping students articulate their ideas clearly, cite evidence, and revise with confidence. Grammar instruction is integrated into writing so students apply what they learn in real time.

Science
Our science instruction is hands-on, discovery-driven, and faith-informed. From earth and life sciences to basic chemistry and physics, students explore how the natural world reflects the creativity and order of our Creator. Emphasis is placed on observation, inquiry, and real-world application.

History
We journey through ancient world civilizations, exploring how nations formed, cultures grew, and faith stories unfolded across time. Students examine historical events as well as geographic and cultural shifts.

Math
Middle school math at TKCU focuses on building strong foundational skills while developing students’ ability to think critically and solve problems creatively. Using our “Beyond the Worksheet” approach, students move beyond rote memorization into meaningful application of math concepts.
Students deepen number sense, master fractions and decimals, and strengthen their understanding of multi-step problem solving.
Shaping Who They're Becoming
We believe middle school is not just about academics—it’s about character. These years are foundational for helping students understand who they are in Christ and how they are called to love and lead others.
Here’s how we intentionally support that growth:
Character Mapping
Students reflect on personal growth through guided conversations, journaling, and goal setting—learning to identify strengths, challenges, and the kind of person God is shaping them to be.
Weekly Teacher Check-Ins
Every student is seen and supported. Our teachers regularly meet with students to encourage, guide, and walk alongside them through academic, social, and emotional growth.
Leadership Opportunities
Middle schoolers take on real leadership roles—whether mentoring younger students through clubs, helping with campus service, or leading prayer and devotion. These opportunities help students learn to lead with humility, empathy, and confidence.
